About Kent Sanders
After retiring from teaching for 30 years, Kent became interested in designing and creating jewelry, so off he went to jewelry school in Portland. Upon returning to Whidbey Island, he began making jewelry for shows and galleries. In time he developed an idea of what he liked most to create and taught himself to weld. These processes opened up a whole new way of looking at what art meant for him. Having no formal art education, he developed his own way of creating a piece. He combines his science background with the artistic elements of nature, natural curves, the liquid flowing of metal, kinetics, sound, light, texture, and other factors to provide himself with an exciting adventure that he relishes every day.
