Dashing Through the Snow
While on a trip in the Washington Cascade Mountains, this group of mule deer suddenly appeared, coming up from behind and running beside us as we drove. We slowed down to let them pass and I was able to capture some action photographs. Back in my studio, I created a watercolor scene based on my photos. These mule deer are the largest deer in Washington, where they inhabit the sagelands, meadows, and open ponderosa pine forests east of the Cascade crest.
