Consisting of 3 pods (J, K & L), they number about 80 members total. Southern Residents were listed as endangered in 2005 under the Endangered Species Act. The population continues to struggle and has declined by over 10 percent since 2005. Noise and overcrowding from boat traffic, as well as a scarce supply of their preferred food – salmon – pose serious threats to this beloved population. The title expresses the faith these beautiful creatures have unknowingly entrusted to us. Their fate depends heavily on our future actions.
