About Ginny O'Neill
I am a representational artist. I consider my art a form of portraiture, whether I’m painting a boat, a barn or a bird.
I’ve painted solely in watercolor for the past 18 years. I absolutely love the process; to me there’s no point if you don’t love the process. Although my work is quite detailed, I’m nevertheless seduced by the random magic of watercolor – I like to follow the accidental patterns that so often develop. My process is pretty time-consuming and involves glazing, wet-into-wet, dry brush and scrubbing out. I will use anything that works. I paint the Pacific Northwest landscape because it is what I know and love. I’ve also become quite a passionate wildlife artist. I will move from landscape to waterscape to wildlife to portraits (mostly dogs and children). I love them all. |
