About Morgan Bell
My artwork is an expression of my life-long exploration into the concept that Beauty feeds Spirit. I believe that beauty, whether observed, created or worn adds an extra spiritual dimension to our lives. Creating objects of beauty and sharing them with the world is what drives me to create.
I have worked in many mediums, but I always return to glass. It appears ephemeral, yet is solidly physical. Glass is classified as a solid liquid: movement in stasis, ready to flow with life when exposed to the proper catalyzing conditions. So it is with our Spirit — waiting in stasis for the feelings that begin in the heart and grow in the body until that energy must be expressed. My artwork reflects my attempt to capture a moment of that expression. And to celebrate the beauty and complexity of all that we are. I have been creating art glass for over 15 years. My work includes vessels, figurative sculptures, wall hangings and jewelry, as well as garden art and home decor. I work in “warm” glass, which is formed in a kiln, using different types of glass, from raw art glass to window, or float glass. Glass can be melted, fused together, carved, and bent, depending upon the process temperature, which generally ranges from 1200 – 1650 degrees. I have also created custom commissions such as light sconces, decorative windows and jewelry and I will happily discuss custom work. |
